Strawberry Season is finally here in Western New York and I’m loving it! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen some pictures from our little strawberry picking outing last week! I took my 4 kiddos with me to one of our local U-Pick Strawberry Farms to harvest some juicy and delicious berries. It had rained a lot earlier in the week, and even though the weather was cloudy and cooler that day, it was absolutely perfect for picking. There weren’t a lot of people there and the strawberries were everywhere which made picking that much easier.
I make several batches of Strawberry Freezer Jam every year. We actually ran out (my daughter can’t have any other jam on her PB & J sandwiches!) in May, so I anticipated picking a lot to make a lot of jam. We picked 16 full and rounded quarts of fresh strawberries in a little under an hour! We snacked on some berries when we got home and then I made several batches of the jam. With only half of the berries used, I’ve been putting those delicious strawberries in some of our other favorite recipes.
