The end of the school year is near and it’s always busy and full of activities! With summer just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about some family fun in the kitchen! I’m so excited to be able to spend more quality time with my children. With more time in the morning to enjoy breakfast and each other’s company- why not make something special, just because?! It’s almost Father’s Day too and my children are excited to plan something special for their dad. This year my kiddos and I are using our Holstein Housewares Heart Shaped Waffle Maker to make these yummy Cinnamon & Pecan Waffles for breakfast!
There’s nothing better than food made with love. These homemade waffles are really easy to make and absolutely delicious! Warm cinnamon and finely chopped pecans are blended into a tasty buttermilk batter for a breakfast “Dad” and your family will not forget. It’s also a nice breakfast that can be easily made any day of the week, like for a fun “Baking Day”. Don’t want to heat up the kitchen during the hot summer? No problem! This stylish and easy to use Waffle Maker won’t give off heat like an oven and it easily makes 4 heart shaped waffles at a time. You can get everyone’s breakfast ready pretty quickly, even if you have a large family!
If you are serving anything else with these waffles, like fruit salad, you can prepare that ahead of time. You are going to want the waffles to be the very last thing made, so they stay nice and warm.
When you are ready, plug your waffle maker in and wait for it to preheat. A light will go on and tell you when it’s ready. While you are waiting for it to preheat, you and your kiddos can put on your aprons and mix your waffle batter.
My daughter loved putting the cinnamon and finely chopped pecans into the batter. She was working so fast I could barely get a clear photo!
I even let her really get mixing too!
When the Waffle Maker is preheated, simply pour about 1/4 cup of the batter into all of the 4 sections of the Waffle Maker, close the lid and cook for about 6 minutes or so. Cooking times may vary with different batter, so just keep a close eye on them.
Your children can absolutely help with this part if they are supervised. This is about the time that my younger children start squealing with excitement because the waffles start cooking and expanding and the kitchen starts to smell really delicious!
Remove your warm, cooked waffles to a heating drawer or baking sheet and cover with foil to keep warm while you quickly finish your batches of waffles for everyone.
After all of the waffles are made, it’s time to get everyone’s breakfast plates ready! Place a few of those lovely heart shaped waffles onto a plate, top them with whipped cream and pure maple syrup, add a side of fresh fruit and serve! For Father’s Day, make sure you give “Dad” an extra big stack of waffles and don’t forget to add a sweet Father’s Day Card to his tray! What a special treat!
The Holstein Housewares Heart Shaped Waffle Maker isn’t just for special occasions though! Use it all of the time. My children love it when I make Strawberry Oatmeal Pancakes for breakfast with this and you don’t even need to get out the sticky syrup. Waffles are a great on the go snack too (most recipes are freezer-friendly!) and these adorable hand sized heart shaped waffles are just wonderful for that!
