This recipe comes from my good friend Delia. It has a creamy, cheesy texture and my children just love it. Perfect as a main course or as a side. I hope you enjoy this as much as my family does.
Delia’s Macaroni & Cheese
Ingredients
- 3 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 4 Tbsp. flour
- 2 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 3 cups cheddar cheese
- 1 -1/2 cups american cheese
Instructions
- Cook macaroni until al dente, drain, and set aside.
- In a large pan, under medium heat, combine onion and butter and saute until soft.
- Add the flour, salt and pepper, and whisk until smooth.
- Stir in milk and sour cream while whisking until thick.
- Stir in cheese until melted.
- Add the macaroni and combine well.
- Place in casserole dish and bake for 20-30 minutes or until bubbly at 350 degrees.

What is american cheese? Is it the Kraft Singles? Where can I find it?

Hi Susy! Kraft original slices are American Cheese, but you can also get it at the deli counter in Brands such as Land O Lakes.
