Last month was the first time I shared one of my “Fixes”. If you aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix, it’s a personal styling service that ships hand picked items to your doorstep. When you head over to stitchfix.com and sign up for a “fix”, you fill out your style profile and choose a day you would like to receive your fix. When you schedule your fix ( I schedule one per month, but you can do more or less), you are charged a $20 styling fee. When your Stitch Fix arrives, you have 3 days to try everything on and decide what items you would like to keep and which items you would like to send back in the enclosed prepaid envelope. You don’t have to lose your $20 styling fee either! You can apply that towards any purchase! If you purchase your whole “Fix” you get 25%! Pretty neat huh?!
For me Stitch Fix is nice because I don’t really shop for clothing on a regular basis. At least not for myself. You can send your stylist a quick note about a certain type of item you may be looking for and I love the convenience of trying everything on in my own home. I don’t know about you, but I am not a big fan of those 3 way mirrors in the dressing rooms at the mall! 😉 Hey, February is the month of LOVE, so love yourself and give this awesome service a try… for You!
Since I loved everything that I received in my fix last month, I requested to have the same stylist. I will be attending the Food Blog Forum Conference in Disney World at the end of the month, so I asked for a few pretty but comfortable blouse type shirts that I could wear and a purse (mine is falling apart) in my fix this month.
Here’s My February Fix:
Ivy Petal Print Blouse $58
I wasn’t too sure about this blouse at first because I thought it was a little dark for Spring, but it did have little hints of color. As soon as I tried this on, I knew it was a keeper. It was very comfortable, can be worn with jeans or a skirt, and I felt pretty in it. It also looked nice with the earrings I kept from my fix last month.
The Verdict: Kept
Rogers Distressed Boyfriend Jean $78
Okay, so when I opened my box this month and saw jeans in there, I wasn’t exactly thrilled. I hate trying pants on, and I really don’t like “skinny” jeans. My shape is curvy and there is nothing skinny about it, but I make myself try everything on, so I put these on. First let me say that these jeans are the most comfortable jeans I have ever worn. They were soft and felt nice. I don’t love the way I look in any pants, but these were okay and my daughter really liked them. They looked “modern” and not “frumpy”, but the one distress mark on the leg kept bothering me. Out of the corner of my eye I kept thinking it was a piece of string or something so I kept trying to brush it off.
The Verdict: Returned
Osirus Mixed Material Top $58
I really liked the colors in this top. I loved the teals and the blues and I was excited to try this one on. Even though I liked the colors, I wasn’t too sure about the cut of the sleeves. It looked a little boxy to me, and I just didn’t think the cut was flattering. This would look nice with a cardigan, so maybe it would look okay then. It was really comfortable though. Hmmm….decisions, decisions.
The Verdict: Returned
Maxwell Braided Zip Bottom Tote $48
I don’t have a lot of bags or purses. The ones I do have have been worn from carrying extra items like diapers, sippy cups, snacks and anything else any of my 4 children have needed whenever we go somewhere. I was really looking for a simple bag or tote that looked nice and wasn’t fancy that I would not feel embarrassed about carrying around at my conference. This tote was cute, I liked the color, it had a lot of space and zipped up, but I was not a fan of the braiding.
The Verdict: Returned
Alan Cowl Neck Asymmetrical Cardigan $58
I did not know what to do with this when I first put it on because it was asymmetrical and I am not use to that. However, this cardigan was extremely comfortable, almost like wearing a sweatshirt and I really liked the neutral color, but I felt like it washed me out too. Even though this can also be worn several different ways, I don’t know if I will wear it that often.
The Verdict: Returned
Even though there were certain things I liked about everything in this fix, I just didn’t love everything. I am thrilled with the printed blouse, so to me loving even 1 piece of clothing and keeping it makes it worth while because it’s something I probably never would have picked out for myself.
So what do you think? Which item did you like the best?
Linda says
The skinny jeans look great!!! Show off those curves. The only item I thought was not very flattering is the drapey cardigan. Maybe skinnies w/o distressing?
Rachael says
the first top looks AMAZING on you! Those are great colors on you 🙂 I think the jeans looked great too, but if something annoys you now, it’s probably not going to get better (my mom always said if you don’t love an item in the store, don’t get it! Clothes aren’t like men, you usually can’t learn to love them)
Shannon says
Thanks so much Rachael! The jeans were so comfy, and I wanted to keep them it was just that darn distress mark- it was huge! That’s true- if you don’t love, love, love it- don’t get it:)
Robin says
I loved the mixed material top. You look fabulous in those colors. I’m not a fan of cap sleeves, but those are borderline. The top didn’t look boxy on you at all. I will be pinning that one for my stylist 🙂
Shannon says
Aww, Thanks so much Robin! I did really like those colors too. Maybe they’ll send me something similar in my next fix! 🙂
