It’s the final week before Christmas and we are busy putting the final touches on our gift and meal plans. Sometimes I feel like my children (not purposely) are excluded from the last minute Christmas to-do’s, like writing out the Christmas cards. I guess it’s just easier for the adults to get that done, especially if we are pressed for time. When my children were really little, I sent out a picture card every year. Last year was the first year that I didn’t send any out and I felt so bad. In fact, even though I wrote out cards to close family and friends that I do see on Christmas, I really missed finding the perfect picture and designing our Holiday card online. This year I was longing for something a little more personal and basic, so with the help of my children, we set aside some time to make Easy, Fun & Crafty Christmas Cards this weekend!
I was browsing around #YahooDIY looking for some different Holiday ideas I could incorporate into our Christmas this year, and I came across this really great article, Skip The Store: How To DIY Your Holiday Cards In 5 Minutes. There were such cute ideas for Christmas Cards in this article that really inspired me. My children love making anything that’s personalized for someone, so why not Christmas Cards?!
One of my hobbies is scrapbooking. I love all of the pretty paper, the embellishments and the memories that come to life on the page you create. With that being said, I have quite the collection of scrapbooking supplies. I’ve been so busy lately that I really haven’t taken any time to scrapbook, so I was so excited to get out all of my great supplies for this family fun Christmas Card project. The best part was that we didn’t even have to run to the store to grab supplies! We just got to work like busy little elves using what we had! 😉
First everyone chose the paper and crafty scissors they wanted to use. We cut out different shapes, added buttons and glittered embellishments to really make these cards shine. Everyone’s cards were different, and every card was handcrafted and will be given with love. I even used patterned paper straw I had for the bottom of my Christmas tree trunk!
I am so happy that we took the time this weekend to do this. It was nice to spend some quality time together and I think sometimes we forget how much something so small can mean so much to someone on Christmas, like these simple homemade cards.
If you’re looking for a good Old Fashioned Christmas Project to do with your family this season, make some cards! I think you may be surprised at how much fun it can really be! Don’t forget to check out #YahooDIY for other great Holiday, Craft, Entertaining and really yummy Food Articles for even more ideas and inspiration this season. Merry Christmas!
