It’s getting close! The Holidays are right around the corner. Are you ready? A few weeks ago I shared a little bit about the UPS #WishesDelivered campaign this Holiday season. If you missed that post, you can check it out HERE. Every time you share a wish with UPS #WishesDelivered, UPS is donating $1 to great charities. For every wish submitted with the hashtag #WishesDelivered, UPS will donate $1 to one of their charity partners (Salvation Army, Boys & Girls Club, or Toys for Tots) up to $100K!
Don’t forget you can still submit your wishes by simply posting the wish on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #WishesDelivered, or by going directly to the #WishesDelivered site and submitting them there. This season is about giving and I hope you all will help spread the word about what sharing your wishes can do and how much it can help others. Today I am going to share my wish with you!
Around the Holidays my family gets together and enjoys one another’s company delicious homemade foods. That got me thinking about those in my area who all year round aren’t able to prepare their own foods and rely on the services of others to get a warm meal everyday. My wish this Holiday is for more people to help our local Meals on Wheels. The Dunkirk-Fredonia Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit agency whose purpose is to provide home delivered meals to individuals who find it difficult to prepare daily nutritious meals themselves. Many of them do not have any family members that visit them daily to check in on them and they look forward to a volunteer bringing them a warm meal once a day. The winters are harsh here in Western New York with heavy lake effect snow and below zero wind chills (just south of Buffalo, NY) and some seniors on a fixed or limited income have a very tough time around the holidays.
Many generous people donate their time every week to deliver meals for Meals On Wheels. A meal and a little friendly conversation goes a long way. It means something. By volunteering your time or a little money to a group like this in your area, you to can truly make a difference in someone’s life! What’s your wish?
