Veterans Day is next week and I am always looking for different ways to support the brave men and women who have served our country. I believe it’s important to show gratitude for the sacrifices these people have made. My brother, my grandfathers, aunt and uncle have all served in different branches of the U.S. Military and I want to show and teach my children how important it is to honor them, say Thank You and to give back. To me, Veterans Day is very personal. I am honoring those I love and care about along with the many others who have served. Veterans Day makes me think about my brother ‘s deployment to Iraq for almost a year. It was hard not knowing where he was and not hearing from him often. It makes me think of how much I missed him and how much I prayed every day for him and for all of the people in his Company to come home safely. It was an extremely difficult time for our family.
I think it may be easy for people to overlook the importance of what these men and women have done and given up when they may not personally know someone who has served. The way I look at it is, is that I don’t know all of the men and women who have served personally either. They do not know me, but they all fought for me. They left their own families and loved ones to serve for this country and fight for our freedom. In most cases, they chose to do this and in return, at the very least, deserve our support. Each one of them is someone’s son, daughter, father, mother, uncle and/ or aunt, etc. . Showing your support is not only important to our Veterans, but it is also very important to their families who go through their own struggles while their loved one is serving. Even a small gesture or contribution can make a huge difference in these Veteran’s lives!

If you’ve got little ones at home like me, then I am sure you go through a lot of BAND-AIDs!
