It’s Friday and that means it’s Family Pizza Night here at our house! Do you have pizza night? Sometimes we order out, but most of the time we make our own. It’s less expensive, more fun and tastes better too! I’m a huge fan of adding colorful veggies to your favorite foods and “eating the rainbow”, so I love making this tasty recipe. Fresh peppers, broccoli, onion, tomatoes, Italian cheeses and ricotta on crusty bread make this Loaded Veggie French Bread Pizza a recipe that your whole family will absolutely love! It’s super easy too!
I’m sort of addicted to making french bread pizzas. Breakfast French Bread Pizza & Taco French Bread Pizza are a few of our favorites that we make a lot here at our house too! Oh, they’re so good!
When feeding a family of 6, it’s always nice to have things on hand and plan ahead for quick meals on busy evenings.
If you do any grocery shopping at Walmart, you can find a fresh loaf of french bread (sometimes even still warm) right in the bakery for only $1! Sometimes I even find it on the bakery clearance rack for .50! I stock up and put 2 or 3 of them in my freezer to use for pizzas later.
All you do is slice the bread in half the long way and start adding your delicious toppings.
I used our favorite jarred sauce and spread it around evenly with the back of a spoon.
Then I sprinkle some cheese and layer on the veggies. We love thinly sliced red onion, colorful peppers, freshly chopped tomatoes and mushrooms if we have them on hand along with some broccoli because it’s my favorite vegetable!
You can easily be flexible with this recipe and add your own favorites or whatever you happen to have on hand!
Now for that cheese. The dollops of ricotta really do make this pizza! Rich, creamy cheese in every bite with those lightly roasted veggies- Yum!
Then sprinkle more shredded Italian cheeses on to the top of the pizza. Add a little dried basil and your pizza is ready to go into your hot oven!
I bake mine at 375 or 400 degrees for 18 minutes or so. Ovens do vary, so keep an eye on yours and you’ll be able to tell when your pizza is just perfect!
I cut mine into triangles with a chef’s knife for easy eating & I like to pair this with a glass of wine and a salad! What a great way to start the weekend! 🙂
Enjoy!
