Last month I came across a post by Lindsay from the Lean Green Bean about Foodie Penpals. I was curious, so I read about it and it sounded like so much fun! Guess what? It was fun! You are paired with a different foodie or foodie blogger each month and then you send them a nice package ($15 max.) of local foods, homemade foods, or any food really that you may like and want to share with others. You also include a recipe or a sweet note explaining why you sent the items that you did. I thought it would be great to share some of my favorite foods or foods that one could only find in my area and to receive some of the same. This month, I was paired up with Jan from Alabama. We e mailed each other ahead of time to find out if either of us had any dietary restrictions, to ensure that the package we sent would be a good match. The package has to be sent out by the 15th and then on the reveal day you get to share what your received with everyone!
So here we go! My package was carefully packed and had a nice little note as well!
Now let me tell you, I was beyond excited to see all sorts of goodies in there! They were all new to me too!
My box included:
- Colorful Artisanal Pasta, which I can’t wait to use in a fun Summer Pasta Salad!
- Lindt Chili Dark Chocolate, this was really tasty and I loved the different flavor in the chocolate, Hey- you can never go wrong with chocolate right?!
- Homemade Blackberry Jelly, this was delicious on our English Muffins in the morning!
- Blue Diamond Bold Wasabi & Soy Sauce flavored Almonds, these made a great snack while out in the garden all afternoon and they were really yummy!
- Peach House Peach Tea, all I have to do is add water to this and I will be ready to go! I am saving this for a nice hot day, hopefully very soon 🙂
- Mario Pitted Snack Olives, these are great because they are packed without the juice and were perfect to send along in my husbands lunch one day!
- Hazelnut Spread, absolutely wonderful and was really good with an apple for a snack!
I really enjoyed this little exchange and it’s a nice way to connect with other people in different parts of the country who share some of the same interests as you- FOOD! If this sounds like fun to you, give Foodie Penpals a try this June!
Thanks again Jan! 🙂
