Can you believe it’s October already?! My children have been back to school for about a month now and we are really loving our reading time at home. With the weather turning cooler, it’s so cozy to snuggle up with your little ones by the fire and read a good book. It’s such a nice time to bond as a family and I love to watch my children’s faces as I read to them while they are letting their imaginations soar. October is also National Fire Prevention Month. I have included one book in our family reading nook that was about fire prevention and safety that shouldn’t be too scary for younger children. Setting aside time to read together leads to many wonderful discussions with your children too. I love the questions my children ask and the great ideas they come up with when we are reading together. If you don’t have a regular reading time with your family and you would like to get started, here is a list of books we are reading in our house this October to give you a few book ideas:) Happy reading!
Our Family’s October Reading Nook features:
Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything
Of course these books are just suggestions based on what our family is reading this month. If you have a favorite book for fall or Halloween I would love to hear about it and maybe read it to my family! If you don’t allow electronic use in your home during the school week, reading can become one of the best forms of entertainment and fun for your children!
If you missed last month’s Family Reading List, you can find it here. Are you interested in relaxing and reading a good book yourself? Here’s what I am reading this month on my Kindle:

A reading list is a wonderful idea. It’s something I should definitely start, but somehow I get the feeling my little ones will want to read the same book over and over again. Lol. At the moment, it’s been Green Eggs and Ham at least once per day.

I know the feeling Marie! We do end up reading the monthly books over and over, but they are in addition to the other ones that we read 100 times a day:) At least there is a little variety this way! Thanks for stopping by!
