With two girls in our house we have a large collection of headbands, barrettes, hair ties and clips. The problem was, that they were all over my house too! My youngest daughter would put on every accessory she could (she calls them her “pretties”) in the morning and then when she was finished with them, they were scattered all over the place.
Some would end up missing, some hidden-by our cat, and some broken because someone had stepped on them. So I needed a solution. I found several ideas on Pinterest that included empty oatmeal cans and gluing on pretty paper. To make it even more simple, instead of gluing paper on I used this pretty shelf liner that was self adhering that I had bought for a different project in my daughter’s room. It took about 5 minutes to assemble and we had instant organization:)
First I took a utility knife and cut a line down on the oatmeal wrapper and rolled it off.
Then I unrolled the self adhesive shelf liner, placed the oatmeal wrapper on top and measured how much I would need to cut the liner. I marked it with a pencil and cut my piece.
Then we carefully started to roll the shelf liner onto the canister as we were taking the backing of the liner off. We smoothed as we rolled.
After smoothing out any little bumps, we were ready to put everything in it’s place. You can decorate the lid also, but my daughter liked it plain. The headbands fit nicely on the outside and any other clips, ties, etc. fit great in the canister. Voila!
