It is so nice to wake up in the morning and have a warm breakfast waiting for you. Steel Cut Oats are a simple, filling breakfast that is so good for you, but preparing them on the stove sometimes takes up too much time in the morning. I try to make breakfast in my slow cooker at least once a week. It saves me a little time in the morning and it smells so good when you wake up. This recipe is not overly sweet, but gives you a subtle hint of peaches in your oats. My family also likes to sprinkle a little brown sugar on the top for a little extra sweetness and flavor. Have you made Steel Cut Oats in your slow cooker? What are your favorite fruit additions to your oatmeal?
Ingredients
- 1 (15 oz.) can sliced peaches in light syrup
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 3 1/2 + cups of milk
- dash of salt
- 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Instructions
- Butter and then spray inside of slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
- Put steel cut oats in slow cooker.
- Drain can of peaches, reserving juice.
- Slice peaches in bite size pieces.
- Add to slow cooker.
- Add milk to peach juice to make 4 cups.
- Pour into slow cooker.
- Add dash of salt and the cinnamon, then stir to combine.
- Cook a minimum of 4 hours on low. It will be done after 4 hours, but it can cook up to 7 or 8 hours, the edges will be lightly browned though- but I like that:).
- Sprinkle with brown sugar and serve with extra milk, if desired.

Can almond milk be substituted for the regular milk.
Hi Lorrie 🙂 I think that would be fine. Fresh peach slices are also extra delicious in this too!
OH this looks good, too. Pinned!
I’m in love with oatmeal, and this sounds just divine! I know my kids would love it, too!
Thanks for stopping by Marcie!
