This week has been like a winter wonderland. Snow, snow and more snow. I love snow and I love when every bit of the branches on the trees are covered in snow. I had some time earlier in the week to go out and photograph some of the natural beauty in my own backyard. It was quiet and the snow was beautiful. I also have been enjoying sitting by the fire with my family and watching it snow. Today I have a different focus though. I want to get organized! When I have been in the house a lot, there comes a point where I need to feel like I am really making a progress somewhere. Usually for me this is organizing. I feel this huge sense of accomplishment after I sort through things. Maybe that seems strange, but I love it! Today I am sorting through my children’s spring and summer clothes. I know it is hard to think of spring when everything is covered in a blanket of snow, but I like to get a head start. I am sure they have grown out of most of last year’s wardrobe, so I like to fill a bag for donation and make a list of what they will be needing for the upcoming spring. This helps me prepare for what I need to buy them and I can keep an eye out for good sales too. Who doesn’t like a good sale? If you don’t know what you need though you may buy more than you need. You may even buy something you already have. I know organizing and sorting can seem like a daunting task, but you will be surprised at what you can get accomplished in just an hour. Set the kitchen timer for one hour and have a plan. Spend that hour doing what you set out to do. Log off the computer, turn off the TV, turn on your favorite music and start organizing. You will be glad that you did! How does your family prepare and get organized for spring?
